Healthy Child Friendly Food – Easy!

At our house we have Monday Night Madness. Well, every night really, but Mondays are one of the worst.
This recipe is designed to be able to be hovered over or left for a while, it’s pretty carefree and doesn’t get jealous if you have something else you need to use a wooden spoon on for a minute. (I kid.)

500g beef mince
1 carrot, cut longways and then sliced
1 cup frozen peas
1/2 head broccoli into small florets
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 small onion, diced
1 cup stock – I use veggie, beef would also work
1 tablespoon flour
1 tablespoon soy sauce
3 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 packet hokkien noodles prepared as per the packet says.

Brown garlic and onion in a little oil. Brown mince as well.
Add flour, stir and cook for a minute or so.
Pour in stock, turn up and let simmer and thicken.

Add soy sauce and oyster sauce, stir.
Add veggies and cook until softened

Add the packet of noodles to the wok, stir in and cook for about 5 minutes.
Serve and enjoy the silence of children with their mouths full!

  1. Looks yummy.
We cook something very similar, we call it a ‘Bitza’ (Bits of this and bits of that)
using gravy powder instead of flour, Beef stock instead of veg, and whatever sauces we have in the cupboard at the time.
For something so wildly thrown together tastes delicious!

    • I throw all my bits into either quiches or spaghetti šŸ˜‰
Up until about a week a go when I had a craving for Roast Beef, we didn’t have any gravy powder in the house!

Show me it's not just my Mum that reads my blog... Comment please?
